ADULTING

In 2010 I married David. This man is the taproot to my sunflower. We were married out in the middle of the orchard, surrounded by the family and community and trees that witnessed my highs and lows of childhood, and thus began my life on this farm as an adult.

A few weeks before my wedding, I rallied 6 of my besties (like you do…) to squish hazelnuts. We met at a friend’s boyfriends house (who had a swanky Cuisinart food processor oh dreams) and turned our roasted hazelnuts into 250 little four ounce jars of hazelnut butter I called “Fiesta butter” for our wedding gifts. Thus began my leading alter ego, Squirrelly Jane.

VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE

I love that Squirrelly Jane allows me to participate in a variety of activities seasonally. From weeding, watering, thinning, and harvesting to preserving, roasting, buttering and holding space at a local farmers market. I also teach Spanish part time! Variety truly is the spice of my life.
